[NI01415] I thought maybe Erastus was a brother to Polly Rathburn who married his wife's brother Joseph Lillie. Pierson Genealogical Records does list a Polly Rathburn dau of Olivia Pearson and Joseph Rathburn, born May 19, 1810, but it says she married Thomas Allen, lives at Clinton City IA and has four children.

The name was probably interchangeable - Rathburn and Rathbun. I am using Rathbun, as that seems to be the common name used in the Lillie Reunion records.

1850 Ohio census - Ashtabula Co, Monroe (roll 659), p. 294a, taken Aug. 13:
Erastus Rathbun, 56, miller, value of real estate: 2500, born Conn; Sally, 50, born Vt; George, 25, miller, born Ohio; Adelia M. Rathbun, 13

I can't find William Bishop in 1860 in Boone Co IL (nor in Mower Co MN) - it's possible he died before 1860.

[NI01451] 1850 Ohio census - Ashtabula Co, Conneaut, p. 329, taken July 24:
Edward R. Bishop, 30, sailor, real estate: 500, born NY; Abigail, 25, born NY; Paulina, 4, born Ohio
>They are right after Elisha Whitmore, Mary Ann's father - I think this is Edwin, although his wife's name is given as Abigail.

I'm fairly sure this is Edwin in the 1860 census - the age is about right, he was born in NY and traveled through Ohio (at least one child was born there), and his family was in Boone Co IL. I'm guessing that M.A. stands for Mary Ann.

[NI01494] Benjamin Franklin Lillie was in Antigo, Langlade Co WI in 1900. Clara Siewert was there in 1910. Because of this, I am assuming that Willis A. Lillie who married Clara is Willis son of Benjamin Lillie. Don't know why he wasn't listed with B.F. in the 1900 census, but it's possible he was working on another farm. I couldn't find Willis anywhere in the 1900 census.

1910 Wisconsin census - Langlade Co, Antigo City Ward 1, p. 27, taken April 18:

LEAVES A LARGE FAMILY
Mrs. B. Straight passed away at her home, 545 Buffalo street, yesterday at the age of 68 years. She was well known in the city and many friends extend to the bereaved family their sympathy. The deceased leaves a family of eight children, four sons and four daughters. The sons are: George, Bell, Will and Andrew. The daughters are: Mrs. C. G. Heffelfinger, Mrs. L. F. Lillie, Mrs. D. J. Carberry and Miss Lillian, who resides at the home. The funeral will be held at Pierpont Thursday, April 5th, at ten o'clock. There will be a prayer at the house on Buffalo street Wednesday evening at seven o'clock.

[NI01497] This must be a relation of May's mother, Blanche Straight. May's sister Elsie and her husband Roy Warren were also in attendance:

DOUBLE WEDDING AT L. A. STRAIGHT HOME___Rev. J. C. Ford of the Baptist church officiated at a prettily appointed double wedding Wednesday evening, three of the principals being well known young people of this city, the fourth being a bride from Bellevue. The ceremonies were performed at the home of Leon A. Straight, 388 Buffalo street. His sister, Miss Lillian May Straight,, was united in marriage to Frank Lee Curtis of Ford avenue, and Leon Andrew Straight, himself, was wedded to Miss Edith Mead of Bellevue.
The hour was 8:30, Miss Straight and Mr. Curtis taking their places first, while the other couple attended them. Immediately after the initial ceremony the couples exchanged places, Mr. and Mrs. Curtis attending Miss Mead and Mr. Straight. The ring service was used in both cases. The brides were both very becomingly attired, Miss Straight in light blue batiste with over lace trimmings, and Miss Mead in light blue silk with cream over lace. The members of the Straight family were the only witnesses of the exchange of pledges, and in the company were Mr. and Mrs. C. G. Heffelfinger of Shadeland, Mr. and Mrs. D. J. Carberry and son, Mr. and Mrs. L. O. Straight, Mr. and Mrs. William Kaiser and son, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Warren and son, Mrs. Langdon and Mr. and Mrs. L. F. Lillie, all of this city. Immediately after the ceremonies an elegant supper was served. Both young couples are at home at 388 Buffalo street. Mr. Straight is employed by F. F. Smith, and Mr. Curtis is a machinist at the harbor. Mrs. Curtis was formerly employed at the Mazda company and has a wide circle of local friends as have both the grooms. Miss Mead was a popular young woman of Bellevue and will no doubt soon claim as many friends here as in her home city. A large collection of wedding gifts was received by the young people. [NI01503] The 3rd annual reunion of the descendants of Joseph and Lotilla Lillie unto the fourth and fifth generations was held at the home of George W. Rathbun and also the home of W. S. Montgomery. One hundred family members were present. At the 24th annual Lillie Reunion, August 15, 1918, a history of the life of George W. Rathbun was read by his daughter, Mrs. Eleanor Montgomery, as follows:
George W. Rathbun, the third child of Erastus and Sally Lillie Ratybun, was born south and east of Conneaut, January 15, 1825. The family moved to Conneaut when George was quite young and lived at the foot of Liberty Street hill, the father running the grist mill known as the Keyes mill. Later they moved to Monroe, still being engaged in the milling business, in which the son began to take an active part as soon as he was old enough. There he was married on June 15, 1851, to Maria T. Collins, and about two years later they moved to Sheffield, where they continued in the milling business and also ran a saw mill. In February 1861, George Rathbun bought the mill at the foot of Mill Street, Conneaut, known as the Union Mills, which he owned and conducted until 1892, when he retired from active labor.
Six children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Rathbun, Ellen, Alberta and Owen dying in infancy. Elmer Collins, born April 22, 1856, was drowned in the flume of his father's mill in April 5, 1865. Had he lived until the 22nd, he would have been 9 years old. Mary Eleanor and William E. are the surviving children.
On retiring from his active life as a miller, Mr. and Mrs. Rathbun moved to South Mill Street and there they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1901. Maria Rathbun died March 28, 1907, at the age of 78, and George W. Rathbun died January 21, 1911, having lived 86 years and 6 days.

Skinner, a lifelong resident of this district, passed away early this morning at her home on the Colver road south of this city. When but a child, her father was tending the old mill owned by General Keyes. The whole life of the deceased, with the exception of a few years, has been spent in the neighborhood of Conneaut and the many friends she has here are sorrowful today over the new of her death. John Hicks, 42, mason, value of real estate: 1200, born VT; Emily, 36, born NY; Lotilla, 14, born OH; Joseph, 12; Helen, 6; Ellen, 6

John Joseph Hicks was likely a son of David, Joseph or James Hicks - my guess is Joseph - who came to Conneaut in 1809, as per "History of South Ridge (Farnham), Conneaut Township, Ashtabula County, Ohio" by Rev. Rufus B. Clark:
The Hicks brothers: David, Joseph, James, and Stephen; natives of Vermont, but late citizens of Canada, arrived in Conneaut in 1809, and located on lands near the cheese factory in Amboy. They remained until about three years, until the beginning of the war of 1812, when having compelled in Canada, never to take up arms against Great Britain, they packed their goods and removed to Vermont. Here they remained until the spring of 1814 when all but Stephen, who began a course in medicine, started their return to Ohio. While stopping in a few days at Rochester, New York, the British and Indians burned Buffalo. Soon after they reached their destination and settled at South Ridge. David Hicks bought land now owned by Asa Shepard, and built his log house about ten rods west of the road. James erected his house about twenty rods north of A.S. Shepard’s, just west of the ravine. They began clearing the land. Wheat being a staple article, they set themselves to work for a large crop. They girdled and under brushed twenty acres, and by September of the next year, 1815, they put in the seed. For this they paid $2.50 a bushel; but at the harvest of 1816, a little more than a year after peace was declared, wheat dropped to a wonderfully low rate, selling at twenty-five cents per bushel. "Thus," they said, "you can clearly see the difference between peace and war." This greatly disappointed them, as they were contemplating early payments of their lands.
Joseph Hicks built a house near where John Howard lives, but after a few years erected one on the south bank of the creek, a few rods from the point of land that almost overhangs the south end of the south covered bridge, on the east side of the road, the land now owned by Daniel A. Waite.
