[NI06186] In 1900, Laura Larue, age 33, is listed as a servant in the household of Julia A. Shull, widow, age 68 (Beaverdam, Richland Twp, Allen Co OH, roll 1236, p. 137).

[NI06187] 1790 (1782 tax list) Virginia Heads of Households (p 27) lists John Larue, 6 whites, in Hampshire Co VA, list of David Mitchell, Gent. Also listed are Jacob Larue, 5 whites, and Peter Larue (John's brother), 9 whites. Apparently John's father Jacob died about 1784, not 1778, as he was still living in 1782.

Also listed in Hampshire Co VA in 1790 is William Jackson, 11 whites. Could this be Hannah Jackson's family?

In 1810 VA Hampshire Co (p 166) William Jackson is listed: 11010-10010 (1 male under 10, 1 male 10-16, 1 male 26-45; 1 female under 10, 1 female 26-45). This is more likely a son of the above William, since there are two children under 10.

1810 Virginia census - Hampshire Co, p. 766:
Jacob Larue - 1 male 26-45; 1 female under 10, 1 female 16-26
[indexed Cornelius Lance] Cornelius Larue - 3 males under 10, 1 male 26-45; 1 female under 10, 1 female 26-45
Hanah Larue - 1 male 16-26, 1 male 26-45; 1 female 10-16, 1 female 16-26, 1 female 45+

[NI06189] Jacob Larew moved to the Shenandoah Valley area, Augusta Co. VA, after 1743. His brother Isaac also left Bucks Co. PA, having bought land in the Shenandoah Valley in 1743. Isaac settled on Long Marsh, a stream located three miles from Berryville, where he lived in a log cabin and raised horses.

LaRue & Allied Families, http://worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=donwatson&id=I13066, gives Jacob's death date as 1784, I believe in part due to the fact that he was listed in the 1782 state census but not in the 1784 census.
Jacob appears in a list of heads of families of Hampshire Co. VA for the year 1782 but not 1784. The Federal Census of 1790 for Virginia was burned, destroyed in the War of 1812. The State Census of 1782 and 1784 for Hampshire County remained intact. It is suggested that if in 1782 a man is listed but is not in 1784, that the 1790 census for Pennsylvania be consulted and the counties in the western part - Alleghany, Bedford, Fayette, Washington and Westmoreland - be especially noted. It is quite likely that the names will be found there.
The census takers had contiguous territory, so the same initials following two names indicates that the men were neighbors. For Jacob and John, below, DM = David Mitchell.
In 1782, census figures following names indicate free whites; sl denotes slaves. In the 1784 census, the first figure is free whites, the second, dwellings, and the third, other buildings.

[NI06193] Baptism record, from French Reformed Church Baptismal Book 1651-1676: Abraham Le Roux and Jeanne Du Four have had baptized their son the 6 March 1664 born 1 March 1664 who has been named Abraham, and has for godfather Pierre Scabel and for godmother Elizabeth Collier, his wife.

Abraham of Mannheim (the Immigrant) arrived on Staten Island, New York in 1678, on the Dutch ship "De Trouw" (Faith), with Jeanne Guerin LeRoux and her children, all born in Mannheim. They were followed in 1680 by more of the family arriving on the ship "Caledonia." The children of Pierre and Jeanne Guerin LeRoux were Jacques (born 1656), Suzanne (born 1658), Marie (born 1662), Anne (born 1664) and perhaps David (born ?). Pierre LeRoux, cousin of Abraham LeRoux of Leiden, had died on the voyage, which originated in Holland. Jeanne was unable to pay for the voyage, and she and her children escaped (except for Suzanne, who was captured and later sold - she spent the next five years in involuntary servitude) when Jeanne wielded a handspike and told the children to run for their lives. If they all traveled together, why did Jeanne Guerin suffer the handspike incident? The only answer possible is that the adult males involved in the incident were simply too much for the LaRue Family, and they could not save Suzanne.

It has been believed that Pierre LeRoux who died on the voyage was uncle to the immigrant Abraham, but this has been disproved by the French Reformed Church records of Mannheim. Pierre was the son of Pierre LeRoux of Calais, and this Pierre was brother to Anthoine LeRoux, Abraham's grandfather. So Pierre was not an uncle to Abraham, but his father's first cousin, and his relationship to the other two children on the voyage, Jacques and Suzanne, was that of second cousin.

His wife Magdellaine apparently died during or shortly after the birth of their son Peter. He married Olive Cresson on Staten Island circa 1690.

Abraham sold his property in Kingston NY Jan. 31, 1692 and removed to Staten Island, where he was elected constable in 1694.

Once source says he married 1st Magdelaine Gille, or Uzille, daughter of David Uzille (the Huguenot who later removed to Staten Island) and Marie Cassier. Don Watson disputes this, citing a birth record from Mannheim: Isaac Gillet and Esther Michee baptized their daughter Magdellaine in the church ... 1 April 1663, born 29 March 1663.

This may be the Abraham Larew listed in the Ulster County NY Census 1689, a roll of the names and surnames of them that have taken the oath of allegiance in ye county of Ulster, by order of His Excellency Ye Governor; ye first day of September anno domini 1689.
These following persons did not appear vizt:
Larow, Symon
Larrow, Livie

From the book "The Huguenots or The Early French in New Jersey" p. 8: "Jacques Le Roux (Larew, Laroe, La Rue) settled in Hackensack. He married (1) Magdalena Gille and had a son Peter, who was baptized in Kingston, New York in 1688. In 1690 Jacques married (2) Olive, widow of Joshua Cresson of Long Island." [Why would the author give his name as Jacques?] Later, on p. 15, the correct Abraham is given: "Abraham Le Roux (Larew, Laroe, La Rue), the emigrant, left France for Manheim and sailed for America about 1680. He was in Kingston on the Hudson in 1688 and 1692. Later he moved to the Huguenot colony on Staten Island. However, he died in Hunterdon County in 1712. Abraham was the progenitor of the New Jersey family."

[NI06222] I believe these are Abel Sr.'s sons:

[NI06225] May have had a son Jacob as well (probably died as infant); additional residence: Staten Island NY, New Amsterdam.

[NI06274] Records of marriages for several of Isaac's children (Isaac, Mary, Rebecca) show up in the Pennsylvania Vital Records, Vol. I: Dutch Reformed Church, Churchville, Bucks Co (Falls Twp.?).

Isaac left Bucks Co. PA, just as his brother Jacob did, having bought land in the Shenandoah Valley in 1743. Isaac settled on Long Marsh, a stream located three miles from Berryville, where he lived in a log cabin and raised horses.

1790 Virginia Heads of Households (p 21) lists Isaac Larue, 12 white, 6 black in Frederick Co, list of George Noble.

Going by the order the children are listed in the will, I have estimated the dates of birth as follows: 1802 - Peter, 1798 - Sarah, 1795 - John, 1790 - Hannah, 1787 - Jacob, 1785 - Rachel. It's possible that John had died by 1826.

CONFLICT: Helen Silvey's site (http://jpaul.gwdi.com/silvey/larue/d0001/g0000078.htm#I2406) says this Jacob died May 6, 1802 in Washington Co OH. The Jacob appearing in the 1800 census for Washington Co OH can't be the Jacob son of John & Hannah. 1810 VA census for Hampshire Co, Jacob Larue is enumerated next to his brother Cornelius and his mother Hanah: 0 0 0 1 0 1 01 0 0 - 1 male 26-45, 1 female under 10, 1 female 16-26. His daughters were born in 1815 and 1824, so he couldn't have died in 1802.
H.S. also has May 6, 1802 as the marriage date for Jacob Larue (1776-1823, son of Peter and Elizabeth [LaRue] LaRue) and Elizabeth Reynolds.

Ohio Cemeteries p. 304 has a Mahalah Larue d. Oct 7, 1895 ae. 72y (b. ~1823). In the same listing is John Larue d. Apr 10, 1861 ae. 56y 11m (b. ~May 1804) and Mary Larue d. May 17, 1889 ae. 78y 6m 14d (b. Nov 3, 1810). This is the Old Cemetery in Utica OH.

[NI06337] 5/25/2004 email from Marge Hinners to Gail and Barry Strong:
I contacted you both last year in searching for information about Jesse Larue. We visited the Knox/Licking County area last fall, and I was able to find Jesse's tombstone at the Martinsburg Presbyterian Church.
I recently received some documents from Peggy Taylor that provide the definite link between Jesse Larue in Ohio, and John Larue in Virginia. I wanted to be sure that it was the right Jesse Larue. It is a letter of authority that authorizes Obed Larue to act as attorney for Cornelius and Martha his wife, Jesse Larue and Mary his wife, and David Duke and Martha his wife all of Licking County, Ohio and heirs of John Larue, in the collection of the monies owed by Daniel Bruner for the land he purchased in 1816. It refers to the authority given to him in January of 1816 to sell the land.
Another deed that conveyed some of John's land to Abraham Larue is between the other heirs: "This indenture made the first day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred & sixteen, between Jacob Larue & Elizabeth his wife Daniel Taylor and Sarah his wife and Obed Larue & Nancy his wife heirs of John Larue deces'd of Hampshire county & State of Virginia on the one part & Abraham Larue of this same county & state of the other part....." Recorded in deed book 20, page 71, Hampshire County, VA on 18 May 1816.
I thought you would be interested in this, because it proves that Obed and Nancy were married before 1 May 1816.
She also sent some additional documents, including a deed between David Larue and Daniel Bruner, marriage bond of Ann Springer and Jacob Larue, Jacob Larue's will, Noah Larue's will, sale of land from John Larue to Noah Larue in 1791, deed between the heirs and Daniel Bruner 1816,
Peggy sent these to me as scanned documents, so it took quite a bit of time to download them. I will be glad to send them on to you, but wanted to let you know they are coming. I used my photo software to read them and print them. I will send them each separately if you want to receive them by email. Otherwise I can mail them to you, but I will need your snail mail address for that.
Also, I can send you the picture of Jesse's tombstone if you are interested.
I have changed Hannah Larue's death date as "Abt 1815", since the land was probably sold shortly after her death.
Also, when I was in Licking County, I found a document by Helen Silvey, which has the itemized account of John Larue's estate. I can send this document to you also, via email or by snail mail. I have changed John Larue's death date to "Abt Aug 1795", as the first payout in Aug 1795 is for digging his grave.

[NI06348] It was not until 1677 that Huguenot colonists effected a permanent settlement on the banks of the Hackensack, about two miles north of Hackensack and near the "French Burying Ground." The leader of this colony was David des Marest (de Marest, Demarest), who was born in 1620 at Beauchamp in Picardy, the son of Jean des Marest. He had been driven by persecution to seek refuge in Holland, where he married Marie Sohier, daughter of Francois Sohier of Niepe, in 1643. Later he went to Germany and in 1663 came to America, arriving at Nieu Amsterdam on the ship Bontekoe (spotted cow) and joined others in the Huguenot colony on Staten Island. (The Huguenots or The Early French in New Jersey, p. 7)

[NI06370] Some of his daughters spoke in loud, high-pitched voices long after he died. Dick Jordan's mother attributed it to their childhood habit of speaking loud in hopes their very deaf father might hear them.

The house is on the westernmost street of Lafayette. (1920 census says Washington St.) William Heath built it with the help of some of his brothers. It no longer has the trimmings (what do you call that style that looks kind of like a gingerbread house?). Maybe we can find a picture of the house in its original state.

Lima Daily News, April 16, 1891, Lafayette Items:
Wm. Heath is now engaged in tearing down the old two story building on Main street, which was, for a long time, used as a hotel, under the name of the Heath Hotel. The building is nearly forty years old. The Indians of Wyandott used to make this house a stopping place, when going to Paulding county to their hunting grounds. Mrs. Mary D. Heath, who is now 73 years old, was the landlady, and can entertain for hours in relating the manners and customs of the aborigines of her younger days, and also of the old settlers of Jackson township, when they first came here to seek new homes. There used to be warm times in this township, when the "fire water" was freely used, to which there are many who can testify.

Aunt Opal has a postcard with a picture "Where Pennsylvania and Big Four cross Crestline" addressed to Mrs. Amanda Heath, Lafayette, Ohio, postmarked Crestline, June 27, 10 a.m., 1910. I think it is from Grandma (Ethel), though it is not signed.
Dear mother: Arrived safe at Crestline and we are waiting on the special. Met Mr. & Mrs. Heath from Harrod. They started from LaF. Also met Mrs. Heath from Elida. She treats me like a daughter already.

Another postcard, June 29 (no year) of Hotel Conneaut, Exposition Park, Conneaut Lake, Pa., also addressed to Mrs. Amanda Heath:

[NI06372] Samuel and Mary Heath were among the original members of the Christian Church in Jackson Twp, Allen Co. (from the History of Allen County) Since Mary was from Litchfield Co CT, I am guessing that Samuel might be from Berkshire Co MA, which borders Litchfield.

Somewhere I read that Samuel Heath stopped in Ashtabula County before settling in Allen County. I think this was in the Allen County history. The 1850 census for Ashtabula Co OH has a couple Heath families from Massachusetts - see notes in WordPerfect (1850 Ashtabula Co Heath).

In the Leatherman book, Samuel's name is given as Gilbert Heath (father of Phoebe Janette Heath who married Jacob Leatherman Custer).

[NI06374] I had Sam's birth date as Feb. 20, 1830, but his death certificate says he was born Oct. 12, 1831.

Listed with his parents in the 1850 census for Brecknock Twp, Berks Co PA, age 20, carpenter. Have been unable to locate him in the 1860 census.

If their first daughter Sarah was indeed born in Ohio, it would mean they would have come before 1858. Dick Jordan and Sue Ann Marcus put the arrival date later, possibly 1866, since Sam's nephew Henry came out with them to Ohio to do carpentering with his uncle (Dick thought they came together or nearly so). If Samuel had come prior to 1858, Henry would have been too young to engage in carpenter work. However, a document at the Berks County Courthouse dated April 29, 1863 indicates that Samuel was in Ohio before 1863, as were his brothers John, in Sandusky County, and William.

Samuel Clinton Zerbe married Mary Elizabeth Gramling (not totally sure of the name). Samuel came to Ohio by 1863; his older brother John was in Sandusky Co OH by that time. A petition in the file for Jacob Zerbe, their father, gives the year by which they were in Ohio (see notes for Jacob). Samuel's nephew Henry also came to Allen County, probably later than 1863 as he would have been only 10. Henry apprenticed with his Uncle Samuel. I'm having more trouble finding out about Mary Gramling, but I believe her family came from the same part of Berks Co PA, passed through Stark Co OH and wound up in DeKalb Co IN. Samuel and Mary Zerbe had five girls and one son, John. Any Zerbes who stayed in the Allen Co OH area would be either descendants of Sam's son John or of Henry Zerbe, Sam's nephew.

1900 OH census for Allen Co, Bath Twp lists Samuel as age 68, born Feb 1832. His wife is Priscilla and they have been married 5 years.

We thank the Disciple church for beautiful flowers sent and the Rev. H. G. Miley for his consoling words.
CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN

[NI06375] My Mom's mother, Ethel Heath LaRue, said about her grandmother Mary Zerbe, she could sit in her rocking chair in the middle of the dirt and rock and be happy as anything. I asked my Aunt Opal what she meant by that and Opal said she wasn't a worrier.

Mrs. Mary Zerbe, the aged mother of John Zerbe, of 1030 Birch avenue, died at the latter's home at 8:30 o'clock last night, death resulting from rheumatism after she had been an invalid for three years. The deceased was 72 years of age and is survived by her son, John Zerbe, and six daughters.

Mary's daughter Emma Saunders lived at 689 North Jackson Street.

Aunt Opal says Sam Zerbe divorced Mary and married Priscilla Cobean, who came from a wealthy family.

I am 90% certain that Mary Gramling was a granddaughter of Adam Gramling, most likely by a son from his first marriage to Elizabeth Zerbe -- Adam, John, Benjamin or Jacob -- but I have been unable to prove this relation. There is an Enoch Gramling in the 1860 census for Woodville, Sandusky Co OH [see below] - Woodville is where Sam Zerbe's brother John lived, also son-in-law Andrew Jackson Brown's family (before he was his son-in-law). Enoch could be a brother of Mary's.

Compilation of obituaries:
Thomas Beverly Baker, of Wickliffe, Ohio, died suddenly in the home of his son, Virgil C. Baker, Hollidays Cove (WV), Sunday morning at 5:00. Mr. Baker had arrived on Saturday to spend the Easter weekend with his son and his family. He had been in failing health for some time, but was not thought serious until he was stricken with a heart attack Saturday night, which resulted in death.
Mr. Baker was born in Monroe County, Ohio, on August 21 [August 6?], 1864. He and his family resided for many years in Bellaire. His wife, Emma, preceded him in death by five years. Since that time, Mr. Baker has made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Raymond Lillie, in Wickliffe. He was a cooper by trade, but owing to ill health had retired from all active work during the past year.
Mr. Baker was a Methodist, and a man of good traits of character, whose death will be a matter of regret to all who knew him.
He is survived by four children: Virgil C. Baker, of Hollidays Cove [WV]; Robert P. Baker, Wickliffe; Mrs. Vera Lillie, Wickliffe; and Mrs. Ethel Walker of Bellaire, Ohio; three grandchildren: Raymond and James Thomas Lillie, and Robert Thomas Baker [also Norine Baker]. He also leaves one brother and two sisters: William Baker of Medina, Mrs. Belle Crouch of Barnesville, and Mrs. Anna Stone of Akron; and seven grandchildren. [four brothers and two sisters, in the southeastern part of Ohio?]
On Monday night, April 9th, a short service by Rev. Billings was held in Hollidays Cove, and on Wednesday, April 11th, the funeral services were held at Jacobsburg, Ohio, with Rev. Grey and Rev. Ashburn of the Methodist Church in charge, and interment at Jacobsburg Cemetery.
Mr. Baker will long be remembered by the people of Wickliffe, and especially by every one in any way connected with our High School. He had been busy every day of vacation week, getting everything in shipshape, for the re-opening of school on Monday. On Saturday, having completed all his tasks and feeling fine, he decided to take a little Easter vacation. So many recalled seeing him on Saturday, cheerful and smiling, that it seemed beyond belief when the news of his sudden death came to Wickliffe on Sunday morning. It was a great shock to his family and the entire community.

For many years, he conducted a sawmill and thrashing outfit in the southwestern part of the county, retiring from this profession about 16 years ago when he established a grocery at Jacobsburg, Four years ago, he retired from active life.
The deceased had been staying with his daughter for about a month when his demise occurred.
During the Civil War, he served with 193rd regiment, Company H, Ohio Infantry. His wife passed away about 23 years ago and one daughter, Mrs. Thomas Baker, preceded him in death four years ago.

[NI06382] Obituary, in the possession of Rhoda Miller -
Mary L. Beckett, wife of W.T. Beckett on Monday evening, May 1, 1905, at her home in Bellaire, aged 55 years and 15 days. She moved from this place to Bellaire about three weeks ago, and was taken suddenly ill with Bright's disease on Friday evening, April 28th, and lived but three days, which is another reminder that we are in this world as the flowers of the field, not knowing when we may receive the strong, fatal blow of death's keen [word cut off]. Mrs. Beckett had been a member of the M.E. church for forty years.
She is survived by a husband, two sons and six daughters. The remains were brought to the home of her son, Charles, at this place on Wednesday. The funeral services were held in the M.E. church Thursday, conducted by Revs. Baker and McGuire; interment in the M.E. cemetery.

[NI06383] His obituary reads - Beckett Funeral To Be Held Friday
Rev. W. J. Hooker of the South Bellaire M. E. church and Rev. Smith of Jacobsburg, will conduct the funeral services for the late Charles M. Beckett, burial to follow in the Jacobsburg cemetery. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Jacobsburg M. E. church.
Mr. Beckett died Tuesday morning at the home of his sister, Mrs. Leona Coen, 4436 Jefferson street. He had been ill for nine weeks, suffering with a heart malady.
He was the son of William T. and Mary L. Beckett, having been born in Centerville August 24, 1874. He was a member of the Jacobsburg M. E. church for many years.
The survivors include his wife, Nora Douglas Beckett; three daughters, Mrs. Stella Caldwell, Akron, Mrs. Faye Lawther, Mechanicstown, and Miss Mae Beckett at home; three sons, Clyde and Thomas Beckett at Jacobsburg and Glenn Beckett of Glencoe; five sisters, Mrs. Bertha Boggs, Lakewood, Mrs. Minnie Crowley, Cleveland, Mrs. Rebecca Phillips, Warnock, Mrs. Leona Coen and Mrs. Carrie Boss, Bellaire; one brother John Beckett of Alliance, 14 grandchildren and several nephews and nieces.

Another obituary -
Services for Charles M. Beckett, 64, who died Tuesday morning in the home of his sister, Mrs. Leona Coen, 4436 Jefferson St, will be conducted Friday at 2 in the Jacobsburg M.E. church. Death followed nine weeks' illness of heart trouble.
Born Aug. 24, 1874, near Centerville, he was a son of William T. and Mary L. Bailey Beckett. He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church for a number of years.
Bereaved are his wife, Mrs. Nora Douglas Beckett, three daughters, Mrs. Estella Caldwell, Akron; Mrs. Frank Lawther, Mechanicstown and Miss Maye Beckett, at home; three sons, Clyde and Thomas Beckett of Jacobsburg, and Glenn Beckett of Glencoe; a brother, John Beckett, of Alliance; five sisters, Mrs. Bertha Boggs, of Lakewood; Mrs. Minnie Crowley of Lakewood; Mrs. Rebecca Phillips of Warnock; and Mrs. Leona Coen and Mrs. Carrie Boss of Bellaire; 14 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

According to what Rhoda Miller related to me, Uncle Charlie wouldn't have married Nora but her father made him, since he got her pregnant and she'd had Cooch (Stella). They got married after Cooch was born. Story is, Nora's family was pretty ticked off about the situation and a brother of Nora's, out of revenge, got Aunt Carrie pregnant (so Harold Beckett's biological father is allegedly a brother of Nora]. Aunt Carrie raised Harold on her own, though - there was no recognition by the Douglas brother that he was his son. (July 17, 2000, related to me by Rhoda Coen Miller, as her mother Leona told her)

[NI06390] Rhoda Miller says her middle name was Fermer, not Furnier as I had had. Rhoda also told me the parentage of Carrie's son Harold.

See notes under Charles Marion Beckett: Carrie's son Harold was allegedly fathered by a brother of Nora Douglas, either Robert or Josiah.

Joseph's mother may be the Mary Boggs listed in the 1900 OH census for Belmont Co, Smith Twp (Roll 1242, Book 1, p. 150a), born Feb 1814 in Ohio, age 86, parents born Penn. Census lists her as single rather than a widow, but I've seen that before. Eliza Porter, age 50, is a boarder in her household.

Robert Boggs, b. Sep 1874, may also be a son of Joseph & Rebecca. He is listed in the 1900 Ohio census in Pease Twp, Belmont Co (Roll 1241, Book 1, p. 153) with his wife Lulu, b. July 1876, age 23. They were married within the year.

[NI06426] The family moved the same year as his birth to Cleveland, Ohio where they lived first on the eastern side of the city. Ernie attended East High School and went for one year to Baldwin Wallace College in Berea, Ohio. He served briefly in the Army during the First World War but spent most of his service time in the hospital after catching influenza in the major epidemic of that disease in 1918.

Ernest was a bookkeeper and office manager.

The family moved to Lakewood, a suburb on the west side of Cleveland, sometime around 1930. In the 1920s, Ernest worked for Eaton Axle in a heavy truck shop that was managed by his brother Bill. During the Depression he had lengthy periods of unemployment interspersed with a variety of short-term jobs. When the Works Progress Administration was initiated, he was taken on as a timekeeper, a position he held at the time his son started college. After that, he held a variety of positions with the State Employment Service, serving as office manager in their offices in Cleveland, Findlay, and Painesville, Ohio, with shorter stints in Columbus and Cincinnati.

[NI06436] JAMES L. HEATH, postmaster at Herring (village of Lafayette), is engaged in the grain and fuel business. Born in Lafayette Mar 14, 1858, parents were Samuel G. and Mary D. (Hadsell) Heath, who came from Massachusetts at an early day and settled in Ashtabula, Ohio, later removing to Allen County. The parents of Mrs. Heath came to this county in 1832, and she lived in Lima when the present Public Square was covered with dense timber and there were less than a dozen houses in the town. She was the mother of 10 children, nine of whom she reared to maturity and saw happily married. Four of the sons and one daughter are residents of this county and in comfortable circumstances.
James L Heath was married Feb 9, 1881 to Sarah E. Knoble, who was born at Mount Eaton Oh., Apr 12, 1858, d/o Samuel and Jane E. (Chiddester) Knoble. Her father was a native of Switzerland, coming to this country when he was a boy. There are five children in the Heath family: Olive B., wife of A.M. Barber; Avery C., who died at the age of 8 years; and Ralph L., Paul Marvin and James Richard, aged respectively 16, 11 and 4 years. [NI06448] Trumbull Co. OH Query Forum: Posted by Leona Frost on Sat, 13 Mar 1999, in response to Huntington, Marrilla, posted by Howard on Tue, 29 Sep 1998. Surnames: Huntington, Campbell, Hadsell.
I am looking for information on Aurilla Huntington the adopted dau of David Campbell of Trumbull Co. OH. She was born 7-15-1818 NY. She married Almond Hadsell of Litchfield CT in 1834. He was born 6-10-1812. They are buried in Ward Cemetary in Paulding or Allen Co. OH. The similarity between the first names has my curiosity aroused. We were never quite sure of her spelling. Does this person mean anything to you?
thanks Leona
